Yummy food, delectable treats, a balloon maze with comically sized balloons, hundreds of booths full of the latest toy lines coming out for fall 2018, bloggers, photographers, cosplayers, face painters, and hundreds of children all jammed inside Pier 60 at NYC’s famed Chelsea Piers - the West Side’s diamond complex. It was super hot on the day of Sweet Suite, but my son, Marcello and I, made it, perspiring from anti-ci----pation! We were so happy to have been invited to this acclaimed blogger/toy company event that we didn’t care how hot it was outside, we were just ready to play!
Mattel, Nintendo, Just Play, Hasbro, Wow! Stuff, Jazwares, Jakks Pacific, LEGO, and more all carefully laid out like a puzzle of perfectly fitted pieces so we can all indulge in bite-sized snacks, nosh on sweet treats, and wine - there was wine! WINE, PEOPLE!
The next few days, I will be unveiling the latest toys from the event, many of which will come out on August 1, 2018, or later this year. There are many, many toys coming out that will definitely be on your little one’s Birthday/Christmas/Holiday wish list! From Hairdorables by Just Play to the latest additions of Peppa Pig toys by Jazwares, an adorable munchin' dinosaur by Hasbro, a new feathery Hatchimal friend by SpinMaster, toys from the hit Disney Junior show Fancy Nancy by Jakks Pacific, Harry Potter sets by LEGO, and more! There are plenty of options to choose from, and if you act fast, you’ll be ahead of the game for your holiday shopping. With Toys R Us now out of the picture, holiday shopping this year will definitely be…different! Interesting, even!
Trends that I picked up on were even more mystery toys, especially with a toy that we have covered in the past, Beaker Creatures by Learning Resources, which incorporates STEM and the element of surprise with a surprise toy hidden inside of a fizzy ball. There were a lot of racetracks and cars whizzing about as well, which definitely coincides with Hot Wheels’ 50th Anniversary. Since Fantastic Beasts 2 is coming out in theaters in 2019, there was a magical presence with Jakks Pacific’s line of Harry Potter blind boxes, Fantastic Beast Niffler game, and interactive wands by Wow! Stuff, where you can light-write with the help of an app. Smooshy Mushy by Redwood Ventures introduced two new lines in addition to their highly successful squishy line - Smooshy Mushy Babies with adorable bottle packaging, and Smashy Mashy - a new line of squishes geared towards boys! Nostalgia was also highly evident within the PopInsider! section with new Kingdom Hearts gameplay, your very own arcade cabinets for in-home use! Arcade1 took the traditional arcade cabinet and made it a bit smaller so it’s great for a basement, a game room, your child’s room, or even a man cave! Lest I forget the huge Nintendo booth with kiosks of Nintendo Switch consoles ready for our perusing!
Stay tuned to our blog and our YouTube channel; we have so many cool, new toys to show you!
I would like to say thank you to The Toy Insider for having us; we had a blast! Until next year!
