Holiday 2018: The Toy Insider Holiday of Play 2018 Event in NYC

It was a holiday wonderland last night at The Toy Insiders HoliDAY of Play where the twinkling eyes of over 100 hundred invited guests fawned over the latest and greatest toys, including myself! I had the best night, and I wanted to thank The Toy Insider for including little ole me in this event!

The Toy Insider folks really know how to throw a party, and this event was no exception. From the festive decor down to the yummy smells of the passing hors d'oeuvres, I was in heaven. I was also solo for the evening, so I was really stoked to be free for a few hours! Wait, I forgot to mention the best part - the toys! The toys! The toys! There are so many cool, new toys coming that are definitely must-haves for your kiddo's holiday wish list.

From the hottest toys like the new Hatchibabies by Spin Master to the tiniest toys World’s Smallest Tiny Arcade by Super Impulse - there were toys to fit under the tree or snugly in a stocking. Interactive booths brought to you by the toy companies showed how each toy worked, what was special about the toy, and helpful representatives gave so much awesome information that I will be following up with my own blogs coming soon. The Toy Insider made their own holiday lists though, and I wanted you to see my favorite picks from their picks!

The Toy Insider left no stone unturned with their Top Tech 12 where the Harry Potter Kano Coding Kit topped out the list alongside Sensors Alive by Thames and Kosmos. LEGO also made the list with the new LEGO Batman App-Controlled Batmobile for ages nine and up, this set is so cool because it combines LEGO's thoughtful building process alongside high technology. Once built, control your four-wheel drive vehicle via Bluetooth from any smart device.

The Toy Insider’s Stem 10 picks are spot on with the latest in slime making, robotics, and coding. Learning Resources pairs a lab-style environment with the element of surprise toys with their exciting new line, Beaker Creatures. Beaker Creatures are little aliens that come to Earth inside reactor pods that have to be extracted via the special lab, or if you don’t have a lab, you can just use a big bowl of water! Discovery Extreme Chemistry Lab by Horizon Group gives your kiddo the potential to create, explore, and learn by use of 20+ experiments. Your child will be able to use every day household products to conduct their own experiments, and test their own hypothesis and experience the results first hand with this fun set. Nintendo Labo is unlocking a whole new world of discovery and play with this line, especially with the Vehicle Kit for ages six and up. Build a submarine, a car, and a plane and literally unlock your vehicle with a key to play games and discover different modes of play.

Finally, The Toy Insider’s Hot 20 consists of the top 20 toys in different age groups. I have selected a few of my favorites from the night. In the 0-2 years category, toddlers will just love the new Go! Go! Smart Wheels Mickey Magical Wonderland set, it’s a massive set, so you can definitely pare down and get the smaller Go! Go! Smart Wheels Sets, and with so many varieties and price points, gift giving is truly a breeze! I already purchased the VTech Go! Go! Smart Wheels Mickey Ramps Fun House for $19.99, and my one year old son loves it! Hairdorables by Just Play made the cut in the 3-5 years category, as well as the Ryan’s World Giant Mystery Egg by Bonkers Toys. However, the most impressive toy in that category is the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 43-inch Epic Sewer Lair Play Set by Playmates, this set is massive and definitely will allow for many hours of open play! I wanted to just sit there and play with that set! In the 6-8 years category, Smooshy Mushy Baby by Redwood Ventures made the list along with Hatchibabies by Spin Master. Finally for ages nine and up, Arcade 1 Up takes you back to the ultimate in nostagia! With real tactile feel, you’ll feel like you are back at the arcade playing the classics like Centipede, Galaga, Street Fighter, Asteroids, and more. A fun game by Hasbro in this category called Chow Crown looks like a lot of fun, all you have to do is hang your favorite snacks from the crown’s forks, and who ever eats the most snacks before the music stops wins! Be sure to be hungry for this one!

This was just a small glimpse into the evening, and I just had to say thank you again! Stay tuned right here and to my YouTube channel for my own blogs and vlogs about all of the toys I got to see first hand!

Thank you again to the fine people at The Toy Insider; they really do know play! I am looking forward to the next event!
