Video and Review: Walt Disney World Vacation - Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party with First Time Party Goers

We started our Disney vacation off at the airport way too early! Traveling with two children under five years old is tough, especially at 3 AM! Marcello got sick on the plane and ended up losing his breakfast on his Cozyphones headphones! Thankfully, the headphones can easily be removed to be washed, and they were good as new! To learn more about these kid-friendly headphones, check out an earlier blog post. You can also sign up for their newsletter and receive 15% off your first order! Great gift for the holidays, or just trips for the car or plane! After our flight, we found our way to our hotel and checked into our favorite resort, Caribbean Beach, then off to Magic Kingdom! Magic Kingdom is where the magic happens, a few nights a week during the holidays, where the park closes early for guests of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party (MVMCP).

MVMCP is such a fun and festive party with huge Candy Cane blow-up lawn ornaments adoring specific eateries throughout the park, this candy cane represents free treats like yummy cookies, apple cider, joy chocolate, Mickey Mouse pretzels, and ice cream—all free! You can eat your way through the park and be totally sugared up! There are two holiday parades that are so action-packed and chock full of your favorite Disney and Disney Pixar characters—the 8 PM parade is usually more crowded than the 11 PM parade. Since we have little ones, we opted for the earlier parade, and directly after are the amazing holiday fireworks display. The parade was such a highlight because the Wreck-It Ralph float was just so adorable, and a whole float was dedicated to Toy Story with roaming and dancing Green Army Men with huge red crayons as their artillery. The parade ended with the big man himself, Santa Claus! The best spot to view the parade is either on Main Street so you can enjoy the falling snow, or pick a spot in Frontier Land. You’ll be able to catch the very beginning and be done with it sooner than others. Ride times and character wait times are super low, so once you say goodbye to Santa Claus, run off and do something else! You’ll have like 10 minutes more before Main Street parade viewers complete their watch! Make sure you find a spot one hour before, so dividing and conquering while someone holds the spot is key! However, our party night was not sold out and finding a decent viewing spot wasn’t too bad.

Meet special, hard to find characters that only come out during parties like this one and the Halloween themed party, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. You can meet Jack Skellington as Sandy Claws and Sally, as well as Scrooge McDuck, the Seven Dwarfs, and rare prince meet and greets like Prince Phillip and the Prince from Snow White. Loveable Goofy is totally festive and dressed as Santa Claus, but I would suggest opting to meet with him at Hollywood Studios as he meets near Star Tours every day throughout the holiday season, and he’s at Minnie’s Holiday Dine at Hollywood and Vine. Stay tuned for videos, photos, and reviews of our days at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We opted to meet with Scrooge McDuck and Donald Duck in his winter themed outfit. They were both so snugly and cute! I love the ducks, and so do our boys!

You can enter the party as early as 4 PM and can make fast passes up until 6 PM. I would suggest not wasting precious party time on dinner reservations as that will literally eat up an hour or two. Grab some quick service and enjoy the party! We love to enjoy quick service at Pinochhio Village Haus, the theming is festive and nostalgic for Pinocchio fans. You can also get a window seat to watch Disney guests enter the boats for It's a Small World ride. Don't forget to leave a wish for The Blue Fairy! Bring a crayon or pencil for your little ones to leave their wish. I have heard that sometimes your wishes are granted!

Another tip you should consider, if you’re attending the party on a day where you’re already enjoying your vacation (like the second day of the trip), don’t waste your regular park ticket on just half a day. Use the morning to relax at the resort, sleep in, and just relax! You have eight hours of park time at the Christmas party, plus you’ll save money with a regular park day by just purchasing party tickets for that day! Win-win! I also booked fast passes for our arrival. We were due to arrive at 4 PM, so I snagged a 4:00 fast pass for Mickey at The Town Square Theater. Mickey used to talk during this meet and greet, but he has gone silent, sadly. I hope one day he finds his voice again. This was also my youngest son’s first time meeting Mickey, and oh boy—how sweet it was! That experience is just so heartwarming for any child and parent! Then we rode Peter Pan’s Flight, which is a must do fast pass as this ride is iconic with its Neverland flyovers, and bird's eye view of London, you really do feel like you're flying with faith, trust, and pixie dust. Many of the rides had very little wait times like the Barnstormer was five minutes, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was about 30 minutes, and Dumbo was no wait at all. You can see plenty in Fantasyland and zoom through. I did notice that hard to find characters were mainly near there, so you can kind of get stuck in a vortex. The Fantasyland Vortex is what I called it when we went for the Halloween party for the first time. We couldn’t get away from Fantasyland! There is just so much to do in that area for little kids, you can really find that you miss so much while you're waiting for characters and dancing with Disney Junior stars!

During the Christmas party was the new Disney Junior Jingle Jam Dance Party in Storybook Circus! We danced the night away with Vampirina, Doc McStuffins, and Timon! Timon is a sick dancer! He moves likes he is a slinky or made of jelly. The DJ plays real dance hits which makes it fun for the kids and the parents. We had so much fun and spent a good hour in there dancing!

Our first day at Walt Disney World was a success! Do you have any tips for traveling with two children? What are your must do things to do at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?
